Iguazú Falls are one of the planet's most extraordinary natural spectacles: 275 individual waterfalls extending 2.7 kilometres along the triple border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, within a subtropical rainforest reserve declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Wider and more powerful than Niagara and Victoria Falls, the Argentine side offers the most immersive experience, with walkways that take visitors to the very edge of the Devil's Throat.
Devil's Throat — The walkway over the most imposing fall in the system, with frontal views into the water abyss. Sunrise and sunset light transform the experience completely.
Gran Aventura — Boat excursion to the base of the falls, with direct contact with the spray. A change of clothes is recommended.
Macuco Safari — Boat and jungle-trail experience with wildlife: toucans, coatis, capybaras, tapirs and endemic butterflies.
Helicopter overflight — Complete panoramic view of the falls system from above, the only perspective that reveals the full scale of the complex.
Itaipú Dam — The world's second-largest hydroelectric plant, on the Paraguayan side. Guided visits available from Puerto Iguazú.
Gran Meliá Iguazú — The only hotel located inside the Argentine National Park. Guests access the falls before and after public visiting hours, with the rainforest as the immediate setting and suites overlooking the forest.
Belmond Hotel das Cataratas — On the Brazilian side, also inside the national park. Historic colonial architecture, iconic pool facing the falls and exclusive access during closing hours.
Panoramic Hotel — In Puerto Iguazú, with river views and a strong quality-exclusivity balance for private clients who prefer an urban base.
Paraná river fish — surubí, dorado and boga — are the region's signature specialties. La Rueda is the classic parrilla reference in Puerto Iguazú; Aqua, the Gran Meliá restaurant, offers signature cuisine with rainforest views. Mate culture and local tropical fruits — passion fruit, guava — complete the region's gastronomic experience.
Iguazú is approximately 1,300 km from Buenos Aires — less than 1 hour 45 minutes by private aircraft. IGR airport (Cataratas del Iguazú) is 20 km from the falls. The decisive advantage of a private flight is schedule control: the most beautiful moments at Devil's Throat — sunrise and sunset — rarely align with regular commercial flights. Arriving and departing on a tailored schedule is the difference between a tourist visit and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
November to March — Maximum water flow, lush rainforest and the falls at their most powerful. Heat and humidity are intense; light clothing and sun protection are recommended.
April to September — Slightly lower water flow but more comfortable walking temperatures. Greater butterfly presence. Ideal for photographic safaris and longer trail visits.
