Necochea is one of the great surprises of the Argentine Atlantic coast: 74 kilometers of uninterrupted sand — the second longest beach in the country —, the Quequén River canyon, the Miguel Lillo Park and a rhythm that deliberately contrasts with the social intensity of Mar del Plata and Pinamar. 500 kilometers from Buenos Aires, the city maintains its own identity built on fishing, agricultural production and tourism that has not yet lost the human scale.
Miguel Lillo Park One of the most extensive urban forests in Argentina, with more than 600 hectares of araucarias, eucalyptus and pine trees growing directly behind the beach; a landscape without equivalent on the Buenos Aires coast.
Quequén Spa — On the other side of the river, the town of Quequén offers quieter, less frequented beaches and a genuinely decompressed atmosphere, ideal for those seeking distance from the conventional circuit.
Fishing in Quequén — The Quequén Grande River is one of the most valued sport fishing destinations in the province: corvina, sole and trout in the upper reaches attract specialized fishermen throughout the year.
Lafken Wineries — The regional reference winery, with production of local wines and guided tours; an unusual and memorable stop on a coastal itinerary.
Lomas del Tuyú Reserve — Protected natural area nearby, with coastal wetlands and notable birdlife for high-profile ecotourism.
He President Hotel It is the historical reference for accommodation in Necochea, with a beachfront location and quality services. The forest strip between the park and the beach concentrates an offer of boutique properties and premium rental houses that offer greater privacy than hotel chains.
The cuisine of Necochea has its main source in the sea: fresh seafood, grilled squid, fried sea bass and locro in the cold months define the local offering. The gastronomic center is concentrated in the coastal area, with restaurants that work with direct fishing products from the port of Quequén, one of the busiest in the South Atlantic.
The distance from Buenos Aires is approximately 500 km, with a flight time of around one hour to the Necochea Aerodrome (NEC). Regular commercial service is practically non-existent, making private flying the most efficient option and the only one compatible with frictionless travel. Access by land, in season, usually exceeds five hours.
The beach season is concentrated between December and March. Sport fishing is at its best between March and October, with autumn being the busiest period for black croaker and sole. The mild autumn climate makes Necochea a viable long weekend destination almost all year round.
