General Acha is the hub of southern La Pampa: a cattle and hunting corridor on the dry steppe, with direct access to Parque Nacional Lihué Calel and field estancias focused on agribusiness and sport shooting.
Surrounding estancias run grey partridge and tinamou shoots on open pampean fields, plus duck hunting on seasonal lagoons. About 120 km away, Parque Nacional Lihué Calel offers volcanic hills, caves with rock art and steppe wildlife. Cattle farm tours and dry-pampa landscape viewing complete the regional offer.
Estancias provide field lodging with guides, 4×4 transport and on-site meals by advance booking. The town has inns and apart-hotels for agribusiness or short executive stays.
Field-raised lamb and kid asado, grilled kid goat and mutton stews. Estancias serve partridge in sauce and knife-cut beef empanadas with regional wines.
General Acha airfield (ACH) accepts light aircraft and turboprops with direct access to town and southern pampa fields. From San Fernando (FDO), about 633 km is covered in 2 h 5 min to 2 h 45 min versus more than seven hours by road.
Partridge and tinamou season May to August, with dry pampean winter days. Spring (September–November) suits visits to Lihué Calel. Autumn for cattle tours; in summer, schedule outdoor activity early in the day.
