Asunción is one of the oldest and least explored capitals in South America: a city of extraordinary historical depth, Guaraní cultural richness and rapid expansion in private banking, luxury real estate and fine dining. For the Argentine business traveller, it also offers a singularly favourable fiscal and financial environment that makes it a permanent fixture on the executive agenda.
Palacio de los López — One of the most imposing neoclassical palaces in South America, facing the Paraguay River. Barrio Las Mercedes — Duty-free luxury shopping: Louis Vuitton, Cartier and international brands in an urban setting with exceptionally high purchasing power. Costanera — Revitalised waterfront promenade along the river, heart of contemporary gastronomy and social life. Jesuit Missions of La Santísima Trinidad del Paraná — UNESCO World Heritage site, the best-preserved Jesuit ruins in the world, 300 km from the capital.
Sheraton Asunción — The city's finest address: first-class service, pool and corporate connections. Esplendor Asunción — Refined boutique hotel in the financial district, for executives who prioritise location and privacy. Bourbon Asunción Convention Hotel — Reference for corporate groups and large-format events.
Asunción has the most underrated gastronomic scene in South America. La Pérgola del Bolsi is the classic institution, with long-standing Paraguayan and international cuisine. Tierra Colorada Gastronomía is the benchmark for contemporary Paraguayan cooking. Chipá — Guaraní cheese bread — sopa paraguaya and mandioca in all its forms are inseparable from the local table.
Approximately 1,100 km from Buenos Aires, about 1h30 by air. Silvio Pettirossi Airport (ASU) is 15 km from downtown. Private aviation avoids the overland crossing via Posadas and its queues; it is essential for same-day business travel and for the fiscal calendar that drives short, frequent transfers between both capitals.
April to September: dry season, optimal temperatures between 18 and 28°C, the best window to combine business and tourism. October to March: humid, warm summer, but the city maintains its pace without pause.
