Private flights to Rawson, Chubut

Rawson is the capital of Chubut Province —an administrative city of 35,000 people on the Atlantic coast— and a starting point for the Patagonian wildlife circuit along the Chubut coast. Unlike Puerto Madryn, Rawson and nearby Trelew open access to Península Valdés, Punta Tombo and the Welsh route through the Chubut Valley with a more intimate setup and without peak-season crowds. The city also holds a singular founding story: in 1865, 153 Welsh settlers landed on this harsh coast to preserve their language and culture, creating one of South America's most distinctive colonies.

Gaiman and the Welsh route — 18 km from Rawson, Gaiman preserves stone chapels, windmills and Argentina's most authentic Welsh tea houses: black cakes, scones, homemade jams and tea served with inherited china. Princess Diana visited Gaiman's tea houses in 1995; the experience remains one of the country's most original cultural rituals.
Punta Tombo — 90 minutes from Rawson, the world's largest continental colony of Magellanic penguins — more than a million individuals in season. An early-morning visit, with the private airfield as starting point, turns the transfer into the experience it deserves.
Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (MEF), Trelew — One of South America's most important palaeontology museums, with original specimens of giant Cretaceous dinosaurs from Chubut Patagonia. Essential for travellers with scientific or family interests.
Punta Ninfas — Coastal reserve about 75 km northeast of Rawson with southern right whales in season (September–November) and a sea lion colony. Less visited than Península Valdés and with greater privacy.

Zar Airport (REL / SAVT) in Trelew remains an alternative. Private air access allows the Patagonian wildlife circuit — Valdés, Punta Tombo, Gaiman — without depending on commercial connections or limited low-season frequencies.
